YOUR ROLE
As a key member of Student Life, the REC Fitness Centre team aims to create a culture of health, fitness and well-being for the RMIT community. The REC Fitness Centre Officer is responsible for ensuring a smooth and effective operations of the REC Fitness Centre as well as delivering a variety of high-quality
health and fitness services through the provision of innovative fitness activities and programs.
The position is based in Saigon South campus and required flexible working hours, including working in shift and on weekends.
REPORTING LINE
Reports to: REC Fitness Centre Coordinator
Indirectly reports to: REC Operations Manager
Direct reports: N/A
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Ensure all operational procedures and guidelines of the REC Fitness Centre are enforced consistently as well as maintaining a high level of customer services, safe environment and professionalism all the time.
2. Regular supervise all facilities and equipment in the REC Fitness Centre and Functional Training and instruct users on proper work-out techniques and use of fitness equipment, machines and accessories in these areas.
3. Deliver a diversity of innovative and inclusive health and fitness programs in accordance with fitness levels of RMIT students and staff. These include inductions, workshops, group classes, testings, challenge events, personalized exercises and lifestyle advice.
4. Communicate effectively with various stakeholders to ensure the daily operations of the REC Fitness Centre are smooth and consistent.
5. Collect information and data of all aspects of REC Fitness Centre operations for tracking and reporting purposes.
6. Cooperate with other University departments and Schools to promote for a health and wellness lifestyle across RMIT community through numerous campus-wide events.
7. Provide REC Fitness Centre users with accurate information and promotional content of programs and activities through various communication channels: service mailbox, Staff and Student updates, digital signage, notices and announcements, so on
8. When required and applicable, provide appropriate first aid support to users in emergency situations until professional medical staff approaches.
9. Undertake other duties that may be required.
Job requirements
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
1. A relevant bachelor’s degree, preferable in Physical Education or Sports Management or Hospitality.
2. Knowledgeable and experience in creating and implementing work-out exercises and programs for diverse users at various fitness levels.
3. Ability to work on own initiatives independently as well as in a team.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders in a multi-cultural and multi-national working environment.
5. Attentive to details, sound customer services, planning and organisational skills. Experience in event management is advantageous although not essential.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications.
7. Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position and RMIT Values.
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT
English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS (General) with a score of at least 5.5 (or equivalent, as outlined in the Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding Guidelines).
For any role, English Language Proficiency may also be proven by showing successful completion of secondary education to a level qualifying to enter university study while being instructed through the medium of English, as per the RMIT University recognised qualification list.
