Garment Development Designer

Responsibilities:

- Researching trends, sourcing new ideas and innovative components/fabrications to build exciting new product for motorsport team and lifestyle ranges

- Creating sketches/CAD’s to communicate concepts and product details to all stakeholders

- Assist with preparation for presentations to licensors and wholesale partners

- Assist with CAD templates and range layouts

- Communicate briefs to the graphic design team for artwork creation

- Preparing detailed tech packs with guidance from lead designer

- Reviewing development and PP samples against SPEC’s and providing tech pack comments.

- Liaising with the merchandisers on all aspects of product development

- Ensure developments are tracking in line with the critical path

- Organisation of all product files, trims, artworks and samples

- Maintaining the WIP to ensure production handover dates are adhered to

- Approving shipment samples ensuring landed goods are correct quality, fit, fabric, colour, trims according to the tech packs.

- Manage the labelling and packing requirements, ensuring each product meets the licensor approved standard.

- Uploading artwork and sample images to Hightail for client approval

- Organising couriers and parcels for product development.

Education

1. Degree/Diploma: A degree or diploma in fashion design, apparel technology, textile design, or a related field.

2. Certifications: Additional certifications in garment construction, fashion illustration, or fashion marketing can be advantageous.

Experience

1. Work Experience: 3-5 years of experience in garment design and product development with a proven track record of developing successful apparel collections.

2. Several years of experience in fabric and trim consumption calculation, typically a minimum of 3, within the fashion or textile industry.

3. Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of fashion trends, garment construction techniques, fabric properties, and manufacturing processes.

Skills

1. Technical Skills: Intermediate Adobe Illustrator to create garment CAD’s and photoshop skills

2. Attention to Detail: Precision in creating patterns that ensure a perfect fit and optimal garment construction.

3. Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with designers, merchandiser, and production teams to ensure that patterns meet design specifications and production requirements. Being confident in English and able to build international relationships

4. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve issues related to fit, construction, and production.

5. Mathematical Skills: Good mathematical skills for accurate measurements, grading, and adjustments.
