Role Mission and General Characteristics

Research and development Engineer contributes to the design and development of new products, the redesign and maintenance of existing ones, the research and testing on product concepts. Our products are focusing on design industrial mobile with full independent computers that integrates all the necessary peripherals and interfaces needed for collecting, manage, and store the data gathered via barcode

The Engineer takes part to the product development from the concept phase, through the design phase, to the final validation phase, working in strict collaboration with other departments (Quality, Procurement, Operations, etc.), ensuring:

• Constant alignment of the developed products to the requirements identified;

• Delivery of reliable tests and technical documentation

Role Main activities:

• Draw sketches of product ideas and design mockups of proposed products;

• Contribute to define detailed project requirements and specifications;

• Define the action plan within the product development in terms of the needed time/resources;

• Develop the assigned parts of the project, paying attention to the guidelines provided by the team leaders;

• Contribute to the validation-test plans, perform measurements and functional tests on prototypes, assuring full coverage of all requirements;

• Ensure design files and technical documentation are kept up to date and stored in accordance with departmental procedures;

• Embrace innovation culture of our Company, contributing to generate invention disclosures and to scout/evaluate novel and differentiating technologies;

• Participate in the maintenance of existing products, with the aim also to solve problems arisen from field or production.

Key responsibilities:

• Develops bootloaders, kernel drivers and the integration of the company specific application level components in the Android platform.

• Develops firmware for MCUs (Microcontroller Unit).

• Applies the security fixes and addresses troubleshooting to pass the Android Google certification tests.

• Reviews test results and root cause analysis. Resolves highly complex technical issues.

• Understands SOC documentations, schematics and hardware component datasheets to better tune the Android platform level software.

• Understands Android platform architecture internals and Android compatibility requirements.

• Responsible for at least one subsystem in the Android platform, e.g. Camera, Wi-Fi….

• Innovates by developing new features and new products exploiting the selected SOC platforms.

• Writes technical documentation.

• Runs competitive benchmarking and intellectual property analysis to help to surpass the competition.

• Develops positive relationships with technology partners and with colleagues.

• Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent

• English: Fluent in written and spoken English communication skills

• 3 - 4 years of experience in:

• Strong in C/C++/Java, OOP Programming, Multi Threaded Programming is a must.

• Strong Knowledge of Design Pattern, good Software Design approach

• Experience with Linux Kernel, Android embedded, AOSP and Yocto Project

• Experience with Linux administration

• Source Code Configuration Management strong knowledge. GIT,

• GIT command is required. Gitlab and Repo tool experience are strongly recommended;

• Experience with merge tools, patch command and source code conflict management;

• Project Planning, Project management Skill is a plus

• Other programming Language: Python, Kotlin …is a plus

• Continuous integration software tools and DevOps methods.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Embedded System: ARM, GPIO, MIPI, I2C, USB, SDIO…

• Hardware interfaces is a plus

• Any Experience in Camera, Audio processing, Bluetooth, WiFi,
